Schedule until the hackathon
Last week, the application form was finally closed. We want to say thank you for being able to prepare an even more wonderful event thanks to your enthusiastic interest!
I explained it on the last day of the application, but to remind you again, I'll give you the schedule until the hackathon date!

Meet the SHIFT Crew #3
How did people come together in one place through the brand JUNCTION? The key is the People Team. Throughout the event, the People Team constantly ponders what thoughts and emotions participants, volunteers, and partners will have through the experience of JUNCTION. And since they read all the application forms, it could be said that they understand the participants best. Are you curious about the people team? Meet SHIFT's People Team! |
People Team, who cares about people more than anyone else.
How does JUNCTION ASIA look for partners? And what kind of partners can you meet at JUNCTION ASIA? The partnership team is here to answer all questions.
Q. Can you introduce yourself? What tasks are you currently working on? |

Steve Kwon: This is Steve Kwon, the head of the People team. I am in charge of the participant communication tool Discord and participant screening.
Hyunjin Jung: This is Hyunjin Jung, the co-head of the People team. I am in charge of designing convenient features for participants, such as how participants will apply for the hackathon and whether there are any inconveniences while participating in the hackathon event.
Somi Jin: I’m Somi Jin, the crew of the People team. In this year's JUNCTION ASIA 2022, I am in charge of volunteer-related tasks and data processing tasks that extract the appeal points of the event.
June Mo: My name is June Mo, who is working as a crew member of the People team. I am in charge of CS, and planning the team building work of the participants. |
Q. I think it is very unusual to have a people team in a hackathon. I'm curious about why a people team is needed for JUNCTION ASIA 2022 and what kind of work is being done. |

Steve: People Team is a team dedicated to providing the best 'experience' to the participants at JUNCTION ASIA 2022, not the outcome. I hope that JUNCTION ASIA 2022 is not just a competition to achieve 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, but a festival where you can enjoy the process of making something. Along the way, you need a team to look at the event from the participant's point of view, and that's why the People Team exists. |
Q. As much as you ponder about everything about the participants, I am also curious about how you figured out the problems that have been there. What areas are you planning to tackle this year? |

Hyunjin: This year, we are making our own platform where participants can submit their applications. But in the past, we used other organizations' websites, so we couldn't design it ourselves, so we wanted to convey information about the hackathon well. It was difficult. As we are preparing for offline events again this year, we think about what kind of inconvenience there will be offline, and the people team is putting a lot of effort into solving them.
Q. As it is an offline hackathon, I think we will need not only the crew but also the volunteers on the day of the event. How do you handle the work of volunteers?
Somi: We are also preparing volunteers to have the same experience as participants. We are thinking about designing a volunteer experience that will not only give them the tasks necessary to run the event, but also give them the pride of participating in a wonderful event on a level similar to the participants and the courage to face the future! Like the JunctionX Seoul 2019 volunteers, this year's JUNCTION ASIA volunteers will finish this event well, gain a lot of inspiration, and inspire confidence so that they can make many courageous choices in the future!
Q. Final registration will take place when the post is uploaded. I heard that there are a lot of things you were thinking about in this year's team building, can you tell me about it?
b: We tried to make sure that the team building of all participants was completed before the event as much as possible. If that happens, team building will be mostly done online, so I tried to make the process similar to meeting people offline. We hope that it will be a satisfactory experience for both those who participate as a team and seek additional individual team members, and those who participate as individuals and seek teams.
Q. After the hackathon, what kind of event do you want to be remembered by the participants? For this, if you have any details prepared on the day of the event, please tell us!
Hyunjin: I think the most important thing for the participants in the hackathon, which is held for 3 days, is accommodation and food. Pudding rather than praise! In addition, we plan to prepare food suitable for the participants by identifying the reasons for personal dietary restrictions such as allergies in advance. In addition, various convenience facilities are also prepared in the space where the hackathon is held, such as the prayer room and the rest area, so you can use them when you need a break during the hacking time.

Hyunjin: Our people team is working hard so that all participants can have a good time in Busan while hacking hard for 3 days!! We hope you all come to Busan and get a good experience. We are waiting for you 🙂
Steve: Anyone who wants to eat pork soup after the event, come quickly!
Somi: For those who are tired of life, once you come, we will recharge your motivation! Go for a drink in Haeundae.
June: We are preparing an event where you can pour out your passion for 3 days. Come and show off yourselves and bring lots of great experiences! Let’s space out on the beach. |

사람들은 어떻게 JUNCTION이라는 브랜드를 통해서 한 장소에 모이게 되었을까요? 그 주역에는 바로 피플팀이 있습니다. 피플 팀은 행사 전반에 걸쳐서 참가자, 봉사자, 그리고 파트너들이 JUNCTION이라는 경험을 통해 어떤 생각과 감정을 가지게될 지 끝없이 고민한답니다. 그리고 모든 참가 지원서를 직접 읽기 때문에, 참가자분들에 대해 가장 잘 이해하고 있다고 볼 수 있어요. 피플팀이 궁금해졌나요? 이제 SHIFT의 피플 팀을 만나보시죠!

누구보다 사람을 아끼는 피플 팀
Q. 각자 소개를 부탁드려요. 현재 어떤 업무를 맡고 계신가요? |

권도언(이하 도언): JUNCTION ASIA 2022에서 헤드 업무 맡고 있는 권도언입니다. 참가자 커뮤니케이션 툴인 디스코드와 참가자 선발 담당 업무를 맡고 있어요.
정현진(이하 현진): 피플 팀의 공동 헤드를 맡고 있는 정현진입니다. 참가자들이 어떻게 행사에 지원할 것인지, 해커톤 행사에 참여하면서 불편한 점이 없는지 등 참가자 편의 기능을 구상하는 역할을 담당하고 있습니다.
진소미(이하 소미): 피플 팀의 크루, 진소미라고 합니다. 올해 JUNCTION ASIA 2022의 봉사자 관련 업무, 그리고 행사의 소구점을 뽑아내는 데이터 처리 업무를 담당하고 있습니다.
모준승(이하 준승): 피플 팀의 크루로 활동하고 있는 모준승이라고 합니다. CS 관련 담당을 맡고 있으며, 참가자 분들의 팀 빌딩 업무를 기획하고 있습니다. |
Q. 해커톤에 피플 팀이 있다는 점은 굉장히 특이한 것 같아요. JUNCTION ASIA 2022에 피플 팀이 필요한 이유와, 진행하는 업무가 궁금해지는데요. |

도언: 피플 팀은 JUNCTION ASIA 2022에서 결과물이 아닌 참가자에게 최고의 ‘경험’을 선사할 수 있도록 심혈을 기울이는 팀입니다. JUNCTION ASIA 2022가 단순히 1, 2, 3등을 달성하기 위한 경쟁이 아닌, 무언가를 만드는 과정 자체에서 즐거움을 느낄 수 있는 축제가 되었으면 해요. 이 과정에서 참가자 관점에서 행사를 바라볼 팀이 필요하며 그게 바로 피플 팀이 존재하는 이유입니다. |
Q. 참가자의 모든 것을 고민하는 만큼, 그 동안 있어왔던 문제점들을 어떻게 파악하셨는지도 궁금해요. 이번 년도에는 어떤 부분을 해결할 예정이신가요? |

현진: 올해는 참가자가 지원서를 제출 할 수 있는 플랫폼을 직접 제작하고 있는데, 예전에는 남의 홈페이지를 끌어오는 형태로 사용하다보니 직접 디자인을 할 수가 없어 해커톤에 대한 정보를 잘 전달하기 어려웠어요.
올해는 다시 오프라인의 행사를 준비하다보니 오프라인에서는 어떤 불편함이 있을지 생각하고 이를 해결하기 위해 피플팀에서 많은 노력을 기울이고 있습니다. |
Q. 오프라인 해커톤인만큼, 행사 당일에는 크루 뿐만 아니라 봉사자 분들도 필요할 것 같아요. 봉사자 분들의 업무에 대해서는 어떤 부분을 고민하고 계신가요?
소미: 봉사자분들도 중요한 행사의 참여자로서 참가자에 준하는 경험을 할 수 있도록 준비하고 있어요. 행사를 운영하는데 필요한 업무를 배정하되, 참가자들과 비슷한 수준으로 멋진 행사에 참여한다는 자부심과 미래를 향한 용기를 얻을 수 있도록 봉사자 경험을 설계하기 위해 고민중이에요! 19년도 JunctionX Seoul 봉사자분들이 그러하셨듯이, 올해 JUNCTION ASIA의 봉사자분들도 이 행사를 잘 마무리하고, 영감을 많이 얻어서 미래에 많은 용기가 있는 선택을 할 수 있도록 자신감을 불어일으키는 것이 바로 제 올해의 목표입니다!
Q. 해당 게시물이 업로드된 시점에는 최종 등록(final registration)이 진행될 것이에요. 이번 년도 팀 빌딩에는 많은 점이 고민되었다는데, 이에 대해 이야기해주실 수 있으실까요?
준승: 최대한 행사 이전에 모든 참가자의 팀빌딩이 완료되게 만들기 위해 고민했어요. 그렇게 된다면 아무래도 주로 온라인으로 팀빌딩이 이루어질텐데요, 그 과정을 오프라인에서 사람을 만나는 것과 비슷하게 만들기 위해서 노력했습니다. 팀으로 참가하셔서 추가적인 개인 팀원을 구하시는 분도, 개인으로 참가하셔서 팀을 구하시는 분도 모두 만족스러운 경험이 될 수 있었으면 좋겠습니다.
Q. 행사가 끝난 후, 참가자들에게 어떤 행사로 기억되고 싶으신가요? 이를 위해 행사 당일에 준비해둔 디테일이 있다면 한 가지 말씀해주세요!
현진: 2박 3일간 진행되는 해커톤에서 참가자들이 가장 중요하게 생각하는 것은 숙식일 것이라 생각해요. 금강산도 식후경이니까요 ! 또 알러지 등의 개인적인 식사 제한 사유를 미리 파악해 참가자들에게 맞는 음식을 준비할 예정입니다. 또, 기도실, 휴게실 등 해커톤이 이루어지는 공간에서도 다양한 편의시설도 준비해놨으니 해킹하다가도 휴식이 필요할때 이용할 수 있어요. |
Q. 마지막으로, 이 글을 읽고 계실 JUNCTION ASIA 2022의 지원자 분들에게 하고 싶은 말씀이 있으실까요? |
현진: 모든 참가자들이 2박 3일동안 열심히 해킹하면서 부산에서의 좋은 시간을 보낼수 있도록 저희 피플팀이 노력하고 있습니다 !! 다들 부산에 와서 좋은 경험 남기시길 바라요 저희가 기다리고 있습니다 🙂
